Spiders Bring Home Five Top-10 Finishes at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track & field team took home five top-10 finishes including another victory in the 4x800m relay to highlight an extremely successful weekend at the Colonial Relays.
Amanda Corbosiero was once again a living highlight reel. She cruised to a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:22.99, the top finisher of any Atlantic 10 represented runner.
The 4x800 meter team of Maria Acosta, Marisa Ruskan, Haley Preschutti and Corbosiero continued its dominance with another victory. The team closed in 9:01.79; a full 14 seconds ahead of the next closed opponent in a race contested by 18 other teams.
Shelby Cain shined bright in the 5000 meter run, rolling to a second place finish with a time of 16:43.90. Colleen Carney followed in 15th in the same event with a time of 17:14.07. In the 10000-meter race it was Ave Grosenheider representing the Spiders with an 11th place finish (36.26.56).
Also in the 1500, Haley Preschutti finished 10th with a time of 4:33.28, freshman Claire Brown was 12th (4:34.40) and Marisa Ruskan was 13th in 4:35.02.
Mary Allen sprinted her way to a 13th place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.49. Freshman Morgan Towe took the 14th position in the same race, finishing just fractions of time behind Allen. Mary (26.04) also took 21st in the 200 with Towe once again following closely behind in 24th with a time of 26.12.
The sprint team of Allen, Towe, Marshea Robinson and Claire Brown took the track in the 1600 Sprint Medley and came away with an 8th place finish with a time of 4:08.09.
Freshman Maria Acosta continued her stellar debut campaign with a top-20 finish in the 800-meter run, clocking in a time of 2:12.33 as the top Spider finisher.
Liz Montague paced the effort in the field events, finishing 25th in the Long Jump.
As a team the Spiders finished 19th overall in the team competition among 44 qualifying programs, earning 25 total points in process.
