Richmond Travels To Face Wake Forest

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will head out on the road for the first time this season with an ACC test against Wake Forest on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
The game will be streamed on the ACC network.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team fell to 0-2 on the season after a 58-40 loss against Fairfield on Nov. 9. The Spiders only trailed by five points at halftime, 30-25, but were outscored 23-8 in the third quarter.
Sophomore point guard Alex Parson led the team with a season-high 15 points off three three-pointers and grabbed six rebounds. Freshman Emma Squires added eight points with three rebounds in 20 minutes. Junior Amy Duggan finished with seven points and two rebounds off the bench.
Richmond was outrebounded for the second-straight game 38-27 and had 18 turnovers. The Spiders also went 8-for-15 from the free throw line and only shot 28.9 percent from the field (13-for-45).
LAST TIME VS. WAKE FOREST
The last time these two teams met Richmond rallied back from a 13-point fourth quarter deficit to tie the game at 81-81 before a tough 85-81 loss at Robins Center on Nov. 15, 2017. The Parson sisters combined to score 42 points as Micaela Parson scored 24 points and Alex added 18. Jaide Hinds-Clarke finished with a career-high 17 points with three rebounds. The Spiders still lead the all-time series with a record of 7-6.
100 YEARS OF RICHMOND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The University of Richmond will celebrate its 100th season of women's basketball during the 2018-19 season. Richmond has had 24 1,000-point scorers in their history. The most recent being Micaela Parson with 1,401 points during her four-year career from 2014-18. Head coach Michael Shafer has coached 10 1,000-point scorers. The Spiders have been to the NCAA Tournament three times (1990, 1991, 2005) and have made nine WNIT appearances. UR will host a alumni celebration game against La Salle on Feb. 24 at 2 pm.
JAYANA ERVIN COMING UP WITH STEALS
Junior college transfer Jayana Ervin has five steals in two games for the Spiders. Ervin came away with three steals in her Richmond debut against Georgetown and earned two steals against Fairfield. Ervin finished her career at Harcum College, second all-time in steals with 253 in two seasons.
