Spiders Drop 5-2 Decision at The Citadel Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Spider Baseball team fell to The Citadel 5-2 Wednesday afternoon, as the team wrapped up its spring break road swing.
This is the second time this season the two teams met. The Spiders came away with a 13-3 victory over The Citadel during the opening weekend tournament.
Richmond got things started early plating two runs in the first inning. Vinny Capra and Daniel Brumbaugh both singled in the inning and scored the first Spider runs on a wild pitch and a groundout.
The Citadel answered in the bottom of the second with a run of their own, cutting the Spider lead to one, 2-1. The Bulldogs evened the score in the fourth off a sacrifice fly.
In the seventh, the Bulldogs plated two and took a lead they wouldn't relinquish. They tacked on one more run in the eighth to make it 5-2.
The Spiders return home to Pitt Field for a four-game homestand. Up first is Lehigh at 2PM on Friday, March 16 as part of the annual Spider Invitational.
