Spiders Win Fourth-Straight With 7-3 Triumph Over Princeton
03/19/2018 | Baseball
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Spiders rallied for their fourth-straight victory with a 7-3 win over Princeton on Monday afternoon at Pitt Field. Richmond overcame a 3-1 deficit for the win and improved to 12-8 on the season.
Tim Miller knocked in Vinny Capra and put Richmond ahead, 1-0, in the first inning. The Tigers answered in the second with a two-run shot from Joseph Flynn to grab a 2-1 lead.
Princeton (2-10) tacked on a run in the third, but their lead was short-lived as Richmond rallied in the fourth to even the score at 3-3 after scoring on a wild pitch and a double from D.J. Lee.
Behind a stand-up double from Sage Bruhl in the fifth, Kyle Adams crossed the dish and the Spiders regained their lead. The Spiders went on to plate three in the sixth to take a 7-3 advantage as they capitalized on walks, and singled from Daniel Brumbaugh and Adams.
The Tigers looked for an opportunity to erase the deficit, but Richmond shut down the Princeton offense for the 7-3 victory.
Richmond is scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday, March 21 with a game in Harrisonburg as they take on in-state rival James Madison. That game is slated for a 4PM start; however, with winter weather in the forecast, fans are encouraged to follow the team on social media (@SpiderBaseball) and check RichmondSpiders.com for any changes to that midweek contest.
