Spiders Travel To Duquesne For Saturday Contest

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team heads back out on the road to face Duquesne on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m.
The Spiders will get a chance to test out the A.J. Palumbo Center as the Dukes will be hosting the 2019 Atlantic 10 women's basketball championship.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team held a brief 9-7 lead in the first quarter at Davidson but the Wildcats scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to pull away 78-55 on Jan. 16. The Spiders fell to 3-14 and 0-4 in Atlantic 10 conference play.
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke tied her career-high with 17 points off 7-for-11 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Freshman Aniyah Carpenter added 13 points, including eight in the final two minutes of the game. Graduate student Daijia Ruffin finished with eight points off the bench with four rebounds. Sophomore Kailyn Fee also scored eight points off the bench going a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw line.
Richmond committed a season-high 28 turnovers, which led to 33 points off turnovers for Davidson. The Wildcats used a balance attack with four players in double-figures, including Justine Lyon's 18 points off the bench. Davidson finished the game with 20 assists as a team.
CARPENTER CONTINUES TO PRODUCE FOR THE SPIDERS
Freshman guard Aniyah Carpenter, after producing off the bench in the last four games, earned a start at Davidson. Carpenter continued her recent trend scoring 13 points in 21 minutes. She scored 10 of the 13 points in the third and fourth quarters. The Baltimore native has been averaging 12.2 points per game and has scored in double-figures in three-straight games. Carpenter scored a career-high 14 points against UNCG and added 11 points in a loss at Fordham. Carpenter tied her career-high with 14 points off the bench against VCU. Carpenter is shooting at a high percentage as well at 45.1 percent (23-for-51) and a blistering 52.2 from the three-point line (12-for-23).
HINDS-CLARKE TIES CAREER-HIGH AT DAVIDSON
Junior forward Jaide Hinds-Clarke scored 17 points, matching her career-high in a loss at Davidson on Jan. 16. Hinds-Clarke made her first five shots and finished 7-for-11 from the field. She also grabbed seven rebounds, was a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw line and had two blocks. Her last 17-point performance came against Wake Forest on Nov. 15, 2017.
LAST MEETING VS. DUQUESNE
This will be the 24th all-time meeting between the two teams with Richmond holding a slim 12-11 advantage. The Dukes have earned six-straight wins in the series with Richmond's last win coming six years ago on Feb. 22, 2012. In the previous meeting, Duquesne held on to defeat Richmond, 78-70, on Feb. 4, 2018, inside the Robins Center. Micaela Parson had a terrific performance with 28 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Kailyn Fee added nine points off the bench thanks to three three-pointers. The Dukes had two 20-point scorers in Kadri-Ann Lass (24 points, 10 rebounds) and Julijana Vojinovic (23 points, seven rebounds).
