Spiders At Fordham For Early Matinee

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team heads out on the road to face Fordham on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. in Bronx, NY.
Fordham will be hosting its annual kids day where kids from local elementary schools get to attend the game.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team lost their Atlantic 10 opener against Rhode Island, 66-60, on Jan. 5. The Spiders fell to 3-10, 0-1 after holding a nine-point lead with six minutes left. Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke secured her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Alex Parson had 11 points. Freshmen Aniyah Carpenter and Molly Mraz finished with nine points apiece and each hit three three-pointers.
Rhode Island used a late run sparked by Nicole Jorgensen who led the team with 26 points and eight rebounds. Jorgensen was 9-for-11 from the field and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Richmond had won three-straight games against Rhode Island and had a chance to tie the game with 20 seconds left but Parson missed the game-tying three-pointer.
HINDS-CLARKE WITH BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Junior forward Jaide Hinds-Clarke came away with a her second-straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds against Rhode Island. Hinds-Clarke grabbed a game-high six offensive rebounds and now has three double-doubles on the season against Maryland Eastern Shore, UNCG and Rhode Island. She is averaging 6.0 rebounds per game and is 13th in the A-10 in rebounds per game. Hinds-Clarke is third in the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game at 2.9.
LAST MEETING VS. FORDHAM
This will be the 21st all-time meeting between the two teams with Richmond holding a 13-7 record. Fordham has won the last two meetings, including a 43-38 win at the Robins Center on Jan. 21, 2018. Former Spider Micaela Parson finished with 17 points. Kylie Murphree held Fordham's Bre Cavanaugh to just four points and 1-for-9 shooting. Richmond turned in their best defensive performance of the season but just couldn't get enough shots to fall. The Spiders last win against Fordham was on Feb. 17, 2016 (W, 52-48).
DIFFERENT STARTING FIVE LINEUPS
The University of Richmond women's basketball team has had nine different starting five lineups in the 14 games this season. In the game against Rhode Island, the Spiders started Alex Parson, Claire Holt, Molly Mraz, Amy Duggan and Jaide Hinds-Clarke. Parson is the only player to start all 14 games for the Spiders. Hinds-Clarke has made 10 starts. 12 out of the 14 players have made at least one start this season.
100 YEARS OF RICHMOND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The University of Richmond will celebrate its 100th season of women's basketball during the 2018-19 season. The Spiders have been to the NCAA Tournament three times (1990, 1991, 2005) and have made nine WNIT appearances, including a final-four run falling to Creighton, 81-72, on March 27, 2004. The Spiders have earned nine wins all-time at the WNIT Tournament. UR will host an alumni celebration game against La Salle on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.
