Conklin Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week
10/07/2019 | Field Hockey
Goalkeeper Frankie-Lynne Conklin had a standout weekend in goal for the University of Richmond field hockey team to earn her first career Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Â
Conklin becomes the first Spider to earn the defensive honor in its inaugural season, and the first Spider goalkeeper to earn an A-10 weekly award since Felicitas Heinzel did so back in 2017.
Â
Conklin led the Spider defense against a pair of top-tier offenses this weekend in No. 11 Delaware and James Madison. The junior held Delaware off the board for the opening 47 minutes and totaled seven saves, before logging six saves – including her second penalty stroke save of the season – to hold JMU to two goals off of 20 shots.
Â
Conklin and the Spiders return to action on Saturday, October 12, when they travel to take on Saint Louis at 1 p.m. Eastern.
