Spiders Looking To Continue Momentum Against William & Mary

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team continues its home stand with a rivalry game against in-state foe William & Mary on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Robins Center.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team took down Florida Atlantic 57-55 after sophomore Emma Squires scored the game-winning basket with seven seconds remaining. The Spiders were outscored 19-10 in the fourth quarter but held on for their third win of the season and have started 3-1 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
Senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke led the team with 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. Sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz added 11 points with three assists and three steals. Redshirt junior Kaila Clark pulled down seven rebounds, including three offensive in 11 minutes off the bench.
The Spiders built a 20-point lead in the third quarter but FAU come storming back to tie the game at 55-55 in the fourth quarter. In the end, Richmond got the game-winning layup from Squires and made a final defensive stop to secure the win.
ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY
The oldest rivalry in the south continues at Robins Center with the two teams playing each other since 1920. The Tribe comes into the game with a 3-0 record with wins at Army (W, 77-65), Maryland Eastern-Shore (W, 78-50) and at East Carolina (W, 78-68). All three wins for William & Mary have been by double digits. Three players are averaging double figures in Eva Hodgson (20.0 ppg) Sydney Wagner (13.3 ppg) and Victoria Reynolds (11.7 ppg). Hodgson is a perfect 17-for-17 from the free throw line in three games. The Tribe has hit 21 three-pointers and is shooting 80.0 percent (40-for-50) from the free throw line in three games.

This will be the 116th meeting between the two teams with Richmond leading the all-time series 90-25. In the previous meeting, the Tribe earned a 65-55 win thanks to a strong third quarter outscoring the Spiders 22-16. Jaide Hinds-Clarke scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench in the loss. William & Mary's Eva Hodgson led the team with 15 points and Victoria Reynolds added 14 points. Richmond had the game within three points at 55-52 with 4:48 remaining but was outscore 10-3 to end the game.

HINDS-CLARKE THIRD IN A-10 IN STEALS
Senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke leads the team with nine steals in four games (2.25 per game) and is ranked third in the Atlantic 10 just two behind the leader from UMass Destiney Philoxy who has 11. Hinds-Clarke is 100th nationally in steals. Hinds-Clarke finished with a season-high five steals in the season opener against UNCG.
RICHMOND OFF TO BEST START SINCE 2015-16 SEASON
First-year head coach Aaron Roussell has guided the Spiders to a 3-1 start to the 2019-20 season. Richmond has picked up two road wins at UNCG (W, 70-62) and at Georgetown (W, 51-49). The Spiders won their home opener against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 16 picking up their third win of the season. Richmond earned its third win on Jan. 2 last season and is 3-1 or better for the first time since the 2015-16 season when they started 5-1.

Sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz, a native of Oakton, Virginia, made her first career start as a Spider against Georgetown. Klimkiewicz scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds with a season-high three steals. She also went 3-for-5 from the free throw line in the win. Klimkiewicz scored 11 points in the win against Florida Atlantic. She is second on the team at 10.3 points per game and tied for first with five three-pointers in four games played.
