BALTIMORE, Md. – Richmond swim and dive wrapped up its second weekend of competition Saturday evening at the Mangione Pool at the Fitness and Aquatics Center at Loyola University. The Spiders finished fourth in the five-team field, scoring 697 points at the Thomas Murphy Invitational. The Spiders had a pair of first-place finishers in senior Hannah Gouger (Cockeysville, Md.) in the 100-backstroke and sophomore Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In the 400-individual medley, junior Ellie Ronan (Marblehead, Mass.) earned a third-place finish after swimming in a time of 4:29.49. Senior Lexie Gilbert (Annapolis, Md.) added a fifth-place finish in the same event at 4:32.99.

Gouger earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.33. She added a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:02.28. Ronan added a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.22.

In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Lauren Medlin (Cary, N.C.) finished in second place at 52.12. Purcell earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:19.5, 0.22 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. In the 200-butterfly, it was freshman Rachel Pak (Fairfax, Va.) taking third at 2:11.29

The quartet of Jordan Kohut (Raleigh, N.C.), Sara Greene (Tega Cay, S.C.), Purcell and Eliza Manning (Frederick County, Md.) earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:45.89. The 400-freestyle style relay team of Gouger, Medlin, Manning and Purcell tallied a third-place finish with a time of 3:32.28.

In the one-meter diving competition, senior Sydney Weiskopf (Clifton Park, N.Y.) earned a second-place finish with a score of 225.15. Sophomore Emma Yeakley (Cornelius, N.C.) was fourth at 217.25 and senior Maddy Chao (Niskayuna, N.Y.) added a fifth-place finish at 212.05. In the three-meter, divers Weiskopf and Chao earned second and third place finishes with scores of 248.40 and 223.45, respectively.
