Richmond Takes Winning Streak On The Road At Drexel

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team puts its three-game winning streak on the line in a road contest at Drexel on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m.
KATE KLIMKIEWICZ CAREER NIGHT AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY
Sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz, a native of Oakton, Virginia, has started three-straight games and Richmond is 3-0. Klimkiewicz led the team with a career-high 21 points, career-best eight rebounds and a career-high four assists in a 76-73 win against William & Mary. She is second on the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game. Klimkiewicz leads the team with eight three-pointers in five games. She has scored in double-figures in every game but one.
HISTORIC START FOR FIRST-YEAR COACH AARON ROUSSELL
First-year head coach Aaron Roussell has gotten Richmond off to a 4-1 start in his first five games as a Spider. In the 101-year history of the women's basketball program only Janet Koontz (1964), Patricia Higginbotham (1967), Bob Foley (1996) and Joanne Boyle (2002) have won four of their first five games coaching at Richmond. In the division I era, only Foley and Boyle were able to start 4-1 in their first five games coaching.
ABOUT DREXEL
The Drexel Dragons are 2-2 on the season and have had eight days to prepare for the Spiders. The Dragons opened the season with a road win at Quinnipiac, 66-62, thanks to a career-high 31 points from Bailey Greenberg. Greenberg went 19-for-21 at the free throw line in the win. Drexel took down A-10 foe Davidson, 74-63, in the Preseason WNIT. Greenberg matched her career-high from game one with 31 points again. The Dragons have lost two-straight games against No. 18 DePaul (L, 81-57) and Pacific (L, 58-51). Greenberg was held to just 10 points in the loss at Pacific.
LAST MEETING VS. DREXEL
This will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams. In the previous meeting, Richmond was outscored 20-10 in the third quarter and went on to score a season-low 35 points in a 58-35 loss against Drexel on Dec. 29, 2018. The Spiders shot just 25.5 percent from the field and only hit five three-pointers in the loss. Claire Holt finished with 10 points in her first career start as a Spider. Jaide Hinds-Clarke added seven points and grabbed eight rebounds. Drexel's Bailey Greenberg had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

First-year head coach Aaron Roussell has guided the Spiders to a 4-1 start to the 2019-20 season. Richmond has picked up two road wins at UNCG (W, 70-62) and at Georgetown (W, 51-49). The Spiders are 2-0 at the Robins Center with a home opener win against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 16 and a 76-73 win against William & Mary on Nov. 20. Richmond earned its fourth win on Jan. 23 last season and is 4-1 or better for the first time since the 2015-16 season when they started 5-1.
