11/07/2019 | Field Hockey
Five University of Richmond field hockey student-athletes were honored by the Atlantic 10 following regular season play on Thursday afternoon, earning All-Conference honors ahead of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Â
Senior Elise Zwicklbauer was named to the All-Conference First Team for the first time in her career, while also earning All-Academic Team honors for the second-straight season. Fellow senior Amanda DaSilva and sophomores Steffie Bongers and Addie Nash were named to the All-Conference Second Team, while freshman Lindsey Frank earned All-Rookie Team accolades.
Â
Zwicklbauer enters tournament play as the Spiders' leading scorer, tallying seven goals and five assists for 19 points on the year. The forward, who was named Second Team All-State a season ago, earned A-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier this year after scoring twice and adding an assist in a win at Lehigh.
Â
Zwicklbauer also excelled in the classroom this year, earning her second All-Academic Team honor. The three-time ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholar of Distinction will earn her degree in biology this coming spring.
Â
DaSilva earns her second career All-Conference Second Team honor and third total conference honor after leading the midfield this season. The senior has three goals for six points in 2019, and has played all but 18 minutes on the midfield line.
Â
Bongers led the Spider defense this season to earn her second A-10 honor after taking home All-Rookie team accolades last season. She is currently third on the team with five goals and an assist for 11 points, and has a pair of game-winning goals, including one against Davidson last weekend that earned the Spiders the third seed in this weekend's tournament.
Â
Nash also earns her second All-Conference honor after earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team last season. The forward has tallied six goals and an assist for 13 points, good for second on the team. Nash's lone game winner came in a 3-1 win over La Salle in A-10 play.
Â
Frank earns her first Atlantic 10 honor of her career with a spot on the All-Rookie team. Currently fourth on the team with nine points, including a team-high five assists, she earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors once this season after posting a pair of assists in a win at Lehigh. Frank has played the third-most minutes on the team this season as a midfielder.
Â
The Spiders will look to their four honorees to make a run in the postseason, beginning with Friday's Atlantic 10 Semifinal versus No. 2 seed UMass. Game time at Crenshaw Field is set for 2 p.m.
