Spiders Host George Mason In Key Swing Matchup

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will begin a critical two-game homestand starting with George Mason on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. inside the Robins Center.
With a win against the Patriots, the Spiders would tie them in the A-10 standings and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with three games remaining in the regular season.
HINDS-CLARKE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke posted her ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Saint Louis. Hinds-Clarke has had six double-doubles in her last seven games. She had a career-high 19 rebounds at VCU on Feb. 9. She has 10 career double-doubles and is second in rebounds per game during A-10 play (10.2). Hinds-Clark leads the league in offensive rebounds per game during league play at 3.6.
HOME COOKING AT THE ROBINS CENTER
The University of Richmond women's basketball team is 6-6 at the Robins Center this season and is coming off three-straight wins at home against Saint Joseph's (W, 46-45), UMass (W, 62-58), and St. Bonaventure (W, 57-49). The Spiders are 3-2 at home during Atlantic 10 conference play.
LAST MEETING VS. GEORGE MASON
This will be the 62nd meeting all-time between the two teams with Richmond holding a 37-24 overall record. The Spiders lost the previous meeting 77-56 on Jan. 17, 2018 on the road. George Mason outscored the Spiders 18-2 in the second quarter and easily won by 21 points. Alex and Micaela Parson were the only two players in double-figures with 13 and 11 points. George Mason received 17 points by Natalie Butler and 13 points from Nicole Cardano-Hillary. The last win for Richmond came on Feb. 12, 2017, a 70-58 road victory.
THE RACE TOWARDS THE NO. 8 SEED
The Spiders are 4-8 in the Atlantic 10 after 12 conference games. Richmond has four games remaining against league opponents but are hoping to host a first-round A-10 Tournament game at the Robins Center (top-eight seeds host). Last season, the Spiders finished 8-8 and finished in eighth place. Richmond still has games against UMass, George Washington and George Mason.

HINDS-CLAKE HONORED WITH BLACK & BOLD LEADERSHIP AWARD
Hinds-Clarke has been awarded the 2019 Black and Bold leadership award being presented on Friday, Feb. 15, by Diversity Richmond on the campus at Virginia Union University. Diversity Richmond, the LGBTQ community center of Central Virginia, is celebrating the contributions of LGBTQ African-Americans with their third annual celebration that recognizes the leadership of black LGBTQ Virginians. Hinds-Clarke is one of nine people who will be honored at Diversity Richmond's Black and Bold awards.
