Spiders Take On UMass In Final Road Test

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team has two Atlantic 10 regular season games remaining and will face UMass for the second time this season on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m.
LAST MEETING VS. UMASS
This will be the 24th meeting between the two teams with Richmond winning the last meeting earlier this season, 62-58, at the Robins Center on Feb. 3. The Spiders own a 20-3 all-time record against UMass and with a win on Wednesday would ensure a seed of 10th or higher. Jaide-Hinds-Clarke scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. UMass' leading scorer Hailey Leidel was held to seven points thanks to solid defense from freshman Molly Mraz. The Richmond defense forced 19 turnovers for UMass.
THE RACE TOWARDS THE NO. 8 SEED
The Spiders are 5-9 in the Atlantic 10 after 14 conference games. Richmond has two games remaining against league opponents but are hoping to host a first-round A-10 Tournament game at the Robins Center (top-eight seeds host). Last season, the Spiders finished 8-8 and finished in eighth place. Richmond still has games against UMass and George Washington.

HINDS-CLARKE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke posted her 10th double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds against La Salle. Hinds-Clarke has had seven double-doubles in her last nine games. She had a career-high 19 rebounds at VCU on Feb. 9. She has 11 career double-doubles and is second in rebounds per game during A-10 play (10.1). Hinds-Clark is fourth in the league in offensive rebounds per game during league play at 3.5.

The University of Richmond women's basketball team picked up their seventh win at home in a 56-51 win against La Salle to earn a season sweep against the Explorers in Feb. 24. Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke had her 10th double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Daijia Ruffin returned and scored nine points with eight rebounds during her Senior Day. Sophomore Alex Parson added 12 points and hit three three-pointers.
Richmond jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and took a 34-19 advantage into halftime. Freshman Claire Holt finished with 12 points and a career-high five assists. Holt went 4-for-4 at the free throw line to hold off a late La Salle comeback. The Spiders won their seventh home game of the season and fourth in the last five home games.
The Spiders finished the game shooting 31.7 percent from the field (19-for-60) and just 23.8 percent from the three-point line (5-for-21). Richmond almost led wire-to-wire with La Salle only held a 2-0 lead 24 seconds into the game.
