Richmond Takes Winning Streak On The Road At Dayton

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team hopes to continue its recent winning streak when they face the University of Dayton on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m.
LAST MEETING VS. DAYTON
This will be the 25th meeting between the two teams with Dayton holding a 14-10 record, including winning the last 11 meetings. In the previous meeting, top-seeded Dayton defeated Richmond, 67-58, in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals at the Richmond Coliseum on March 2, 2018. The Spiders entered the fourth quarter down just four points and got within one-point but the Flyers pull away late for the victory. Former Richmond all-time great Micaela Parson scored 23 points with eight rebounds and two steals. Jaide Hinds Clarke added 16 points.
SPIDERS CONTINUE A-10 WINNING STREAK AGAINST UMASS
The Spiders earned their third-straight Atlantic 10 win after defeating UMass, 62-58, on Sunday, Feb. 3. Richmond started the A-10 conference season 0-5 before winning three-straight against Saint Joseph's, at La Salle and UMass. In their 74-60 win at La Salle, Richmond set season highs in points (74), assists (20), steals (16) and field goal percentage (47.5). The Spiders are tied for ninth place at 3-5 in the league standings with George Mason and UMass.
RICHMOND TURNING UP THE DEFENSE
During the three-game winning streak, the Spiders are averaging 60.7 points per game and only allowing 54.3 points per game. Richmond held Saint Joseph's to 45 points, La Salle to 60 points and UMass to 58 points. During the first five A-10 games, the Spiders gave up 70.4 points per game, which is a 16-point turnaround in their last three games.
HINDS-CLARKE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke posted her third-straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds against UMass. Hinds-Clarke now has six double-doubles on the season. She has seven career double-doubles and is second in rebounds per game during A-10 play (9.3). Hinds-Clarke leads the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game during league play at 3.5.

Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke finished with her third-straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hinds-Clarke has sixth double-doubles on the season. Graduate student Daijia Ruffin scored 15 points with five rebounds. Sophomore Alex Parson added 13 points and dished out three assists. Freshman Molly Mraz held UMass leading scorer Hailey Leidel to just seven points.
The Spiders outscored UMass, 21-15, in the second quarter and won the third quarter 16-10. Richmond finished the game shooting 38.9 percent from the field off 21-for-54.
