Richmond Hosts George Washington In Home Finale

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will face George Washington in the home finale on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. The Spiders can lock up the 11th seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament with a win against the Colonials.
LAST MEETING VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON
This will be the 42nd meeting between the two teams with George Washington leading with a 27-14 record. In the previous meeting, Richmond held the Colonials to 36 points in a 49-36 win on the road on Feb. 24, 2018, to clinch the No. 8 seed in the A-10 Conference Tournament. Former Richmond standout Micaela Parson scored 19 points and was 9-for-18 from the field with five rebounds. Jaide Hinds-Clarke added 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
RICHMOND LOCKED INTO 11th/12TH SEED
The Spiders are 5-10 in the Atlantic 10 with one game remaining and can finish 11th or 12th. With a win against George Washington, the Spiders will be the 11th seed and can still be 11 with a St. Bonaventure loss. Richmond will have to go on the road in the A-10 first round against the 5th or 6th seed. Here is a look at potential opponents on Tuesday, March 5.

CLAIRE HOLT A SCORING THREAT IN LAST THREE GAMES
Freshman guard Claire Holt is averaging 14.6 points per game in her last three games with eight assists and has hit nine three-pointers (9-for-22). She has started the last two games against La Salle (12 points, five assists) and at UMass (14 points). Holt scored a career-high 18 points against George Mason. She also shot 7-for-9 from the free throw line in a win against La Salle.
HOME COOKING AT THE ROBINS CENTER
The University of Richmond women's basketball team is 7-7 at the Robins Center this season and has won four of the last five at home with wins against Saint Joseph's (W, 46-45), UMass (W, 62-58), St. Bonaventure (W, 57-49) and La Salle (W, 56-51). The Spiders are 4-3 at home during Atlantic 10 conference play and end the season against George Washington on March 2 at the Robins Center.

The University of Richmond women's basketball team had a tough third quarter on the road at UMass being outscored 18-8 and eventually lost 64-38 on Wednesday. Freshman Claire Holt led the team with 14 points and hit two three-pointers. Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke had six points and seven rebounds.
The Spiders shot 32.7 percent (16-for-49) and only shot 16.7 percent (3-for-18). Richmond was outrebounded by UMass, 41-23, and committed 14 turnovers. UMass was led by Jessica George (15 points, five 3's), Destiney Philoxy (11 points, six rebounds) and Jessica Nelson (10 points, seven rebounds).
Richmond only trailed at halftime 27-23 but couldn't make shots in the third and fourth quarters. The Spiders will have one more Atlantic 10 regular season game remaining on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. against George Washington.
