Swimming and Diving Hosts VIllanova on Senior Day

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond swimming and diving returns to the Robins Center Natatorium for its final home meet of the 2019-20 season tomorrow afternoon. The Spider will host the Villanova Wildcats at 3 p.m. Prior to the start of the meet, Richmond will be honoring its senior class. Maddy Chao (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Lexie Gilbert (Annapolis, Md.), Hannah Gouger (Cockeysville, Md.), Eliza Manning (Frederick County, Md.) and Sydney Weiskopf (Clifton Park, N.Y.) will all be competing in their final home event of their Spider careers. This senior class has combined for 13 All-Time Top 10 times or scores during their careers.
Fans who are unable to be in attendance tomorrow can stream the meet, including the pre-meet senior day ceremony on ESPN+.
Chao is a four-year letterwinner at Richmond and is a two-time NCAA Zones qualifier. She placed in the top 10 at last season's Atlantic 10 Championship meet and will be graduating as a double major in psychology with a chemistry minor.
Gilbert is another four-year letterwinner and has competed in several different events during her time at Richmond. She's swam in events ranging from the 1,650 freestyle to the 200-butterfly and earned a Spider All-Time Top 10 time in the 400 Individual Medley. She will be graduating with a business administration degree with a marketing concentration.
Gouger is another four-year letterwinner. She is one of the most decorated student-athletes to come through the Richmond swim and dive program. She set the Atlanitc 10 record in the 200 backstroke at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships, before being named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Conference meet. She is one of seven Spiders to have qualified for the NCAA Tournament, doing so in 2019. Gouger also qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100-backstroke. She will be graduating with a business administration degree with a marketing concentration.
Manning is a two-year letterwinner for the Spiders, having transferred after her sophomore season. She earned spots in the Spider All-Time Top 10 list three events during her short time here. She will also be graduating with a degree in business administration with a marketing concentration.
Weiskopf is another four-year letterwinner for Richmond, consistently ranked as one of Richmond's top performers on the diving board. She is a three-time NCAA Zones qualifier, having qualified in each of the last three seasons. She will be graduating as a double major in psychology and philosophy with a minor in Anthropology.
