Spiders Host Fordham For Play4Kay Game

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will look to keep the momentum going at the Robins Center by facing defending Atlantic 10 champion Fordham on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. The Spiders will be holding their annual Play4Kay game and welcoming back several Alumni.
COACH ROUSSELL DONATING FOR PLAY4KAY GAME
Richmond women's basketball head coach Aaron Roussell will be donating $5 per rebound and $10 per offensive rebound during the Play4Kay game against Fordham. Roussell's donation will be in memory of his Mother-In-Law Anne Abernethy who passed away from Breast Cancer. Proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
HISTORY AGAINST FORDHAM
This will be will be 22nd meeting all-time between the two teams with Richmond holding a 13-8 record. The Rams have won the last three meetings, including last season's 60-48 win at Rose Hill Gym on Education day. The Spiders were outscored 20-6 in the third quarter in last season's road loss. Bre Cavanaugh led all scorers with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Richmond's last win came on Feb. 17, 2016, 52-48, at the Robins Center.
LAST TIME OUT
Richmond improved to 7-3 at the Robins Center with a thrilling 67-64 overtime win against Duquesne. The Spiders trailed by 13 points early in the second quarter and found a way to comeback and secure a huge Atlantic 10 home win against the Dukes, snapping an eight-game losing streak in the all-time series. Richmond is now 12-13 overall and is 5-6 in A-10 play, including 5-2 in their last seven games.
Four players finished in double-figures with sophomore Aniyah Carpenter leading the way with a career-high 21 points and hit three three-pointers off the bench. Claire Holt scored 11 points, her seventh-straight game in double figures. Sophomore Madelyn Neff earned her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Elaina Chapman secured her second double-double of the season with a career-high 14 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. The Spiders received 39 points off the bench with 35 coming from Carpenter and Chapman. Richmond was running the floor with 17 fast break points.
MADELYN NEFF POSTS FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Sophomore Madelyn Neff made her seventh-straight start and tied her career high with 10 points and pulled down a career best 10 rebounds to secure her first career double-double in an overtime win against Duquesne. Neff had nine defensive rebounds and one offensive rebound. Neff grabbed her 10th rebound during the fourth quarter.
CHAPMAN PICKS UP SECOND DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman Elaina Chapman posted career-highs in points (14) and rebounds (11) in an overtime win against Duquesne to earn her second double-double of the season. Chapman had 11 defensive rebounds. Her first career double-double came against St. Bonaventure with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chapman came off the bench and contributed with three blocks, a career-high four assists and four steals to help Richmond earn an overtime win against the Bonnies.
