Spiders High-Powered Offense Too Much for Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team collected their second-straight win on a dominate offensive performance, as 10 different players tallied a goal in the squad's 16-3 win over Radford Saturday at Cupp Stadium.
Richmond (2-0) got on the board first with a goal by freshman Lindsey Frank (_) just ten seconds into the game on a pass by junior Nicole Concannon (Syosset, N.Y.). Goals by freshman Arden Tierney (Port Washington, N.Y.) and senior Julia Schmuckler (New Vernon, N.J.) quickly pushed the Spiders' lead to 3-0.
Redshirt junior Sam Geiersbach (West Babylon, N.Y.) assisted on Tierney's goal while sophomore Marina Miller (Wexford, Pa.) had one of her two assists for Schmuckler's.
Radford's (1-1) Grace Gleason scored back-to-back goals to cut Richmond's lead to one at 23:02 in the first half, but two straight goals by Geiersbach halted the Highlander's offensive push the rest of the contest. Freshman Kendall Duffy (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and Frank collected assists on Geiersbach's goals.
Geiersbach led the Spiders with her second-straight three-goal game, tallying a season-high six points, adding three assists. She also had three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Kendall also scored her first collegiate goal at the 17:03 mark in the first half. Frank had two goals, one assist, two draw controls and two ground balls.
Concannon scored two goals and collected two assists for four points while collecting two ground balls. Tierney tallied four points on the day, on two goals and two assists, and also collected a team-leading six draw controls.
Freshman Sophia DiCenso (Foxboro, Mass.) got in on the scoring to tally three points on two assists and one goal. She also collected five caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Senior Madison Ostrick (Medford, N.Y.) scored two goals and picked up three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
Senior goalie Megan Gianforte (Brielle, N.J.), allowed three goals, making five saves while collecting four ground balls in the victory.
The Spiders open their home slate Wednesday, February 19, hosting Campbell. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
