Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Richmond cross country teams hit the course at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University Friday morning. In fields of nearly 350 individual runners and 40 teams, the Spiders finished 27th on the men's side and 28th for the women. Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) was the top finisher for the men, as Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced the women.
The men started the day, running an 8-kilometer Men's College Gold race. Borger was the first Spider across the finish line, coming in at 20th at 23:52.7. He was the first finisher from an Atlantic 10-member school in the race as five Atlantic 10-member schools competed. Noah Campbell (Montpelier, Va.) was the next Spider across the line, at 25:24.0. Riley Fletcher (East Northport, Va.) turned in a 25:26.3 time, with Jake Schindel (Richmond, Va.) next in at 25:48.6. Patrick Sutphin (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Sean Doolan (Loudonsville, Ky.) were the next two Spiders to finish, with times of 25:50.1 and 25:53.1, respectively. Jimmy Quinn (Nutley, N.J.) and Jordan Bendura (Glen Allen, Va.), each came in under the 27-minute mark. Quinn finished at 26:00.2, and Bendura at 26:22.3. Tanner Crochet (Monmouth, N.J.) and Robert Gunia (Fredericksburg, Va.) added times of 27:11.5 and 28:15.1 to round out the men.
On the women's side, Stockman led the charge with a time of 21:35.2 in the 6-kilometer race with a time of 21:36.2. Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.) was the second Spider to finish, adding a time of 21:47.8. Freshman Laurel Kurtz (Flemington, N.J.) added a time of 22:18.0, and Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) finished at 22:21.6. The trio of Anna George (Montville, N.J.), Izzy Blaylock (Dallas, Texas) and Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.) finished in times of 22:52.3, 22:58.6 and 23:02.0, respectively. The freshman tandem of Lindsay Colflesh (Haddonfield, N.J.) and Emily Rzucidlo (Garnet Valley, Pa.) finished back-to-back at 23:23.0 and 23:23.5, respectively. Manon Stephen (Basking Ridge, N.J.) was the final spider across the finish line, turning in a time of 24:12.3
The cross country teams are back in action at Pre-Nationals in Tallahassee, Fla. hosted by Florida State on October 15th.
