02/24/2021 | Women's Tennis
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team won three singles matches but fell just short, 4-3, against Liberty Wednesday at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.
"Emily Dunbar was on fire today, to win at No. 1 singles with a score of 6-1, 6-0, is impressive," head coach Mark Wesselink said. "Dessi's experience and toughness showed as she closed out her opponent at No. 2 and Sara (Salemyr) just kept get better as her match progressed. A very solid start especially for a freshman. I expect we will just keep getting better and our work ethic has been great."
The Spiders lost all three doubles matches to fall behind 1-0 in the match. At No. 3 doubles, freshman Carly Cohen (Pepper Pike, Ohio) and senior Adrienne Haynes (Asheville, N.C.) lost 6-3 against Marina Davtyan and Grace Hashiguchi.
The Flames clinched the point as Alexandra Almborg and Eloise Saraty won 6-3 against graduate student Dessi Zlateva (Sofia, Bulgaria) and senior Emily Dunbar (Medina, Ohio) at No. 1 doubles.
