Spider Hockey picked to finish second in Spring Atlantic 10 Season

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey team has been selected to finish second in the spring 2021 season in a vote among the Atlantic 10 Conference coaches, the league announced Tuesday.
Saint Joseph's tallied 60 points and six first place votes, while Richmond collected 51 total points and one first place vote. UMass was selected to finish third with 48 points and the final first place vote.
The Spiders finished the fall 2019 season 11-10 and 6-2 in the A-10. Richmond's season ended in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships finals in a 1-0 loss to No. 13 Saint Joseph's at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond returns 2019 Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team honorees junior defender Steffie Bongers and sophomore defender Tess Keppel, as well as senior goalkeeper Frankie-Lynne Conklin in the cage. Bongers tallied 13 points on six goals, including two game-winners, and one assist as Keppel tallied one goal. Conklin collected 77 saves for an average a .658 save percentage.
Returners also include starters Addie Nash, who tallied 13 points on six goals and one assist, junior Jessica Hendry (one goal, five assists) and sophomore Sutton Orndorff (one goal.)
Key reserves returning include seniors Abra Granger (two goals) and Cadera Smith (one goal, one assist), junior Olivia Frazier (one goal, two assists) and sophomores Evie Hanson (two goals) and Regan McCrossan (one goal, one assist).
