Montgomery Announces Spider Hockey 2021 Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond field hockey head coach Jamie Montgomery has announced the Spiders 19-game 2021 schedule. The Spiders will face off against eight 2021 NFHCA Top-20 teams, which includes non-conference foes from the ACC, BIG EAST, Big Ten, Mid-American Conference, Colonial Athletic Association and Patriot League.
Kicking off the fall schedule just 127 days after wrapping up its Atlantic 10-only spring 2021 season, the Spiders (4-3 in the spring 2021 season) are set to open on the road against Rutgers (Aug. 28) and Duke (Aug. 29) in Durham, N.C. UR also takes on American (Sept. 10), Indiana (Sept. 19), Old Dominion (Oct. 3) and Georgetown (Oct. 31) in non-conference road match-ups.
Richmond will open its home schedule Sept. 3, hosting Liberty under the lights at Crenshaw Field before welcoming James Madison to town Sept. 5. The Spiders host Miami (Ohio), one of two Spring 2021 NCAA Tournament teams on the schedule, Sept. 12. William & Mary (Oct. 8), as well as ACC foes Boston College (Oct. 10) and Wake Forest (Oct. 24) will make their way to Crenshaw Field this season.
The Spiders open its seven-game Atlantic 10 slate on the road against Saint Louis (Sept. 17), and host La Salle (Sept. 24) and Saint Joseph's (Sept. 26) before heading out on the road to take on Davidson (Oct. 3). In mid-October, Richmond heads north to face Lock Haven (Oct. 15) and UMass (Oct. 17). Richmond closes out league play hosting spring 2021 A-10 Champion, VCU, Oct. 29.
The 2021 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship will be Nov. 5-6 in Philadelphia, hosted by Saint Joseph's at Ellen Ryan Field.
