Frank Scores in Friday Night Loss to American

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Richmond junior Lindsey Frank (Gansevoort, N.Y.) scored the equalizer against American University, but the Spiders fell to the Eagles, 2-1, Friday night at the University of Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
Frank scored her second goal of the season off of Richmond's lone corner at the 26:16 mark in the second quarter, taking a shot from the top of the circle. Sophomore Alexandria Lavelle (Bryn Mawr, Penn.) inserted the ball to junior Tess Keppel (Baltimore, Md) for the stick stop.
Frank paced the Spiders with four shots. Seniors Steffie Bongers (Weert, The Netherlands) and Olivia Frazier (Cary, N.C.) and junior Regan McCrossan (Waxhaw, N.C.) each took a shot for Richmond (0-4).
In the fast paced defensive battle, American (2-2) scored the in the late in the first quarter and just into the start of the third quarter.
Richmond goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) tallied two saves as the Spiders defense held the Eagles to just five penalty corners.
The Spiders are back in action on Sunday, when they host Miami (OH) at Crenshaw Field for an 11 a.m. contest on ESPN Plus.
