Bongers, Frank Collect VaSID All-State Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond field hockey senior Steffie Bongers (Weert, The Netherlands) and junior Lindsey Frank (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State Second Team.
Bongers, a 2021 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honoree, tallied six goals and was second on the team with a career-high five assists, good for a career-high 17 points, starting in all 18 contests. The 2021 preseason A-10 selection also converted two penalty stroke attempts (vs. Rutgers, 8/28, and at Davidson, 10/1). She netted the game-winner against Saint Louis (9/17) where she had a season-high six points on two goals and two assists in the 4-0 victory. She also scored in three-straight games, at Davidson (10/1), at Old Dominion (10/3) and vs. William & Mary (10/8). Among the A-10, she is eighth in goals per game, 0.38, ninth in points per game, 1.06, and 10th with 0.31 assists per game.
After missing the spring 2021 season due to playing with Richmond's women's lacrosse program, Frank led the field hockey program with 20 points on seven goals and six assists in 17 starts in the midfield, garnering NFHCA All-South Region Second Team accolades. The 2021 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honoree tallied the Spiders first goal of the fall season, finding the back of the net against Rutgers (8/28). Three different times, including in back-to-back games, Frank tallied three points on one goal and one assist for Richmond vs. La Salle (9/24), at Old Dominion (10/3), and vs. William & Mary (10/8). Frank also scored against Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Championship semifinal game to earn A-10 All-Championship Team honors.
The Spiders wrapped up the season with a 5-14 record and a 4-3 mark in A-10 action to finish fourth and earn the programs 20th-straight A-10 Championship appearance.
