Spider Hockey Falls at No. 10 Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Richmond field hockey team fell 6-0 to No. 10 Saint Joseph's in Friday afternoon Atlantic 10 action at Ellen Ryan Field.
Richmond, 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in league action, will stay on the road to take on Lafayette in a Sunday noon contest on ESPN+ in Easton, Pa.
The Spiders quickly got behind 3-0 in the first quarter, despite getting four shots, with two on goal, and three corners in the period. Senior Lindsey Frank (Sarasota Springs, N.Y.) led the way with two shots, while freshman Madelyn Curtis (Richmond, Va.) and senior Regan McCrossan (Waxhaw, N.C.) each tallied a shot.
Richmond regrouped and kept the Hawks off the board in the second quarter, heading into the half only down 3-0.
The Spiders collected a corner in the third quarter, by Cori Nichols (Powhatan, Va.) but the Hawks were able to score off their second of three corners in the period to go up 4-0.
Freshman Jess McMeeking (Cantebury, England) tallied the Spiders only shot on goal of the final quarter of action. Saint Joseph's added two more goals for the eventual 6-0 victory.
Senior goalie Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) played all 60 minutes in goal, making six saves.
