
Spiders Stay Perfect With Win at Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Richmond Spiders Women's Lacrosse team improved to 4-0 this season with a 20-3 win at Howard Sunday. Richmond's 17-goal margin of victory was its largest in a game since a 19-2 win at Old Dominion on March 14, 2021.
Howard evened the scored at 1-1 just over a minute into the game and was still within shouting distance of the Spiders when the Bison scored again to make it 7-2 with 5:18 left in the first quarter.
But Richmond would keep the Bison off the scoreboard for the next 33 minutes, running off 10 straight goals to build its lead to 17-2 before Howard scored with 1:41 to play in the third period.
The Spiders blanked the Bison in the fourth quarter, adding three more goals to make the final score 20-3. The Spiders have now outscored their opponents 69-21 this season.
Lindsey Frank and Arden Tierney each scored three goals to lead the Spiders. Frank now has a team-high 13 goals this season. Tierney added an assist to finish with four points, tied for the team lead. Through four games this season, Tierney has eight goals and 11 assists for a team-high 19 points.
Grace Muldoon was one of four Spiders to record a pair of assists and added two goals of her own for a season-high four points. Hannah Custer, Sophia DiCenso, and Katie Riehl also scored twice for Richmond.
12 different Spiders scored a goal, with Ali Susskind, Juliana Stanley, Madeleine Rudolph, Megan Rice, Kat Kelley, and Alexis Morton each scoring once.
The defense, led by goalie Daniela Stelcer, allowed a season-low three goals. Richmond has now held its first four opponents to single-digit goals for the first time since 2020.
Richmond will return to action next Sunday, when the Spiders host Navy at 12 p.m. at Robins Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
