Spiders Fight Back in Fourth Quarter to Defeat VCU

Richmond, Va. -Â The University of Richmond Women's Lacrosse team improved to 7-2 on the season with a 12-9 victory over VCU on Saturday. Through a series of eight meetings, the Spiders remain undefeated against the Rams.Â
Richmond came out hot in the first quarter, holding VCU to a 5-2 score heading into the second. Through quarters two and three, the Rams held the Spiders to a single goal as they took advantage to grab the 8-6 lead with six goals in those periods. Richmond's offense pushed hard in the fourth quarter as they went 6-1 with VCU, breaking the lead and finishing the game with a 12-9 win.
In the fourth quarter, Ali Susskind fought back to score two creative goals for the Spiders which majorly aided in the comeback. With a hat trick under her sleeve on the day, Susskind found the goal 3 times from her 5 shots, shooting .600.Â
Lindsey Frank pulled through on offense to push through 4 goals and 2 assists. With the strong scoring performance, her all-around efforts accounted for a stronger stat line as she also collected 4 ground balls and 4 draw controls.Â
Colleen Quinn accounted for another hat trick on the day for the Spiders. As Quinn found the goal three times, she was also able to throw in 3 assists on the day, totaling up for 6 points (T-1st with Lindsey Frank).Â
Marymargaret Quinn and Arden Tierney were responsible for the other two goals as they each knocked in one. Quinn adds to her tabs with an assist on the day as Tierney had a good evening in the circle with 8 draw controls.Â
Freshman defender Jordyn Harrison continues to prove that she is a force to be reckoned with. Harrison forced 2 turnovers on the day as she also picked up 4 ground balls.Â
Goalkeeper Emilie Bloyer had yet another strong game this week as she had 5 saves on the day.
Richmond will return to action on Wednesday, March 22Â as they host George Mason at Robins Stadium with a 7Â p.m. start time.Â
