
Spiders Move Up to 8-2 Against George Mason

Richmond, Va.- The University of Richmond Women's Lacrosse team finishes out their three game home run 3-0 as they take down the George Mason Patriots and move to 8-2 on the season.Â
Heading into the half, the game remained close between the programs. George Mason held Richmond to a 4-2 lead going into the second quarter and then a 9-6 margin in favor of the Spiders entering the half. The break for Richmond created positive changes as they came out and scored eight goals in the third quarter, only allowing the Patriots to score one, pushing the lead for Richmond to 17-7. Some new faces saw the field for the Spiders in the fourth quarter as they pushed their margin to 20-7, winning the game, allowing no George Mason goals and finding the net for three extra Richmond goals.Â
Arden Tierney and Colleen Quinn each put through four goals on the evening. Tierney finished the night with 7 points coming from 4 goals and 3 assists while also dominating the draw circle with an impressive 14 draw controls. Quinn continues her hot streak as she totaled 6 points from 4 goals and 2 assists. Through the last three games, Quinn has found the goal 10 times and has contributed with 5 assists. Through the season, she has been an extremely consistent scorer for Richmond as she sits at a .636 shooting percentage. She now finds herself right behind veterans Lindsey Frank and Arden Tierney in the annual scoring column as a sophomore.
Sophia DiCenso put up 3 goals this evening with two of those coming from the free position as she went 2-2.Â
Grace Muldoon had a great all-around night. She punched through 5 points from 2 goals and 3 assists on the offensive side of the ball while on defense she found 3 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.Â
Sarah Roycroft found the back of the net for a Richmond goal while also playing dominant defense as she brought in 5 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.Â
Six other Spiders grabbed individual goals on the evening including Kendall Duffy, Lindsey Frank, Marymargaret Quinn, Juliana Stanley, Alexis Morton and Leah Kenny.Â
Goalkeeper Emilie Bloyer now sits at a 3-0 career starting record as she took 3 saves on the evening.
Up next, Richmond travels to Philadelphia on Saturday to take on Saint Joseph's at 3:30 p.m.
