Spiders Bounce Back at Old Dominion

Norfolk, Va. - The University of Richmond Women's Lacrosse team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 20-7 victory over Old Dominion. This is the third double-digit goal-margin in the season for the program.Â
To open the game, Old Dominion came out hot and grabbed the first goal of the game. After that, Richmond grabbed the tie with a goal from Sophia DiCenso and never looked back as they maintained the lead through the rest of the game. Going into half-time, the score was not an extremely far distance with a 10-6 margin in the Spiders favor. Adjustments were made at the break as the Spiders held ODU to only one goal in the second half while continuing to be dominant on offense.Â
The offense for Richmond today was completely spread as there were thirteen different scorers for the Spiders.Â
There were two hat-tricks on the day as Grace Muldoon and Sophia DiCenso put together incredible performances on offense with three goals a piece.Â
Arden Tierney, Juliana Stanley and Megan Rice were also major contributors to the large victory margin as they all rang in 2 goals each.Â
Ali Susskind, Colleen Quinn, Hannah Custer, Sarah Roycroft, Alexis Morton, Kendall Duffy, Lindsey Frank and Leah Kenny all found the back of the net for single scores on the day.Â
Arden Tierney grabbed eight draw controls through the matchup, continuing her season-long aggressiveness in the circle.
On the defensive side of the ball, it was also an all-around effort to control the score.
Ali Susskind (1), Maggie O'Brien (1), Jax Donohue (2), Grace Jamin (1), Lindsey Frank (2), Grace Muldoon (2), Marymargaret Quinn (1), Sarah Roycroft (1)Â and Charlotte Boss (1) all contributed to the ground ball count.Â
Maggie O'Brien (2), Hannah Custer (2), Lindsey Frank (1), Grace Muldoon (2), Sarah Roycroft (1) and Charlotte Boss all forced turnovers through the game.Â
With sophomore Grace Muldoon racking in three goals and freshman Juliana Stanley grabbing two, it brings bright promises for the program looking deep into the future.Â
Richmond will return to action on Saturday, March 11 as they travel to take on #24 UMass at Noon.Â
