Spiders Fall to Hawks

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Baseball dropped a 15-0 decision to Saint Joseph's Saturday at Pitt Field in Atlantic 10 Conference action.
The Spiders, now 11-16 on the year and 0-2 in league play, and the Hawks (10-12, 2-0) return to Pitt Field to close out the series Sunday with first pitch set for noon on ESPN+.
Richmond had runners reach the base paths, as the Spiders drew five walks, but were held to just two hits. Alden Mathes tallied a base hit in the first while Matt Stinebiser collected a pinch-hit single through the infield in the bottom of the ninth.
Richmond starter Brock Weirather took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks with a hit batter, while striking out four over four and two-thirds of an inning of work.
Harrison Clifton took over for Weirather on the mound. He got the final out of the fifth with a strikeout but allowed three runs in the sixth on three hits and a walk.
Dane Armson threw the seventh, allowing one run on two walks and two hit batters. Brian Reinke tossed the final two innings for Richmond, giving up six runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
