GREENVILLE, N.C. — For the second time in two weeks, the Spiders sparred with the weather, battling rain and wind for 36 holes at Greenville Country Club. Seven days after the Spiders were soaked at the Cavaliers Regional Preview in Charlottesville, Va., more rain forced the cancelation of the final round of the Pirate Collegiate Classic, leaving Richmond in 11th place in the 15-team field with a score of 45-over par (621) through two rounds.
Junior Olivia Wilkie led the Spiders with a two-round total of 8-over par (152), tied for 40th among 84 golfers in the field.
Sophomore Maya Beasley placed 51st at 11-over par (155), two shots in front of freshman Caroline Thompson (57th at 13-over par) and three in front of freshman Katie Magner (58th at 14-over par).
Senior Christine Mandile, competing as an individual, tied for 63rd at 15-over par (159). Senior Lauren Jones was in 69th placed at 19-over par (163).
Richmond will play its third tournament in 12 days on Friday, when the Spiders compete in Round 1 of the 54-hole Evie Odom Invitational at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
