Richmond, now 16-20 on the year and 6-3 in conference action, will host Longwood Tuesday at Pitt Field with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+. UR will then head on the road in A-10 action, traveling to North Carolina to face Davidson beginning Friday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m.
The Spiders scored first Sunday tallying a run on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Jaffe. Jack Arcamone followed with a RBI double to right center to give UR a 2-0 lead. RJ Rickabaugh tallied his third home run of the season with a no-doubter to right field in the second.
Richmond broke open the game in the fourth, tallying seven runs on six hits and two walks. Connor Larson got the offense going with his first career home run to center field. Aaron Whitley followed with his seventh long ball of the season to right center, pushing the score to 5-1.
Phil Bernstein tallied a walk and followed by a base hit by DJ Pacheco. Jaffe was robbed at the wall by GW's center fielder, but Bernstein advanced to third on the play. On a delayed double steal, Bernstein scored, and Pacheco moved up to second. Pacheco then scored on Aidan O'Keefe bunt single, making it 7-1.
With two outs in the fourth, Rickabaugh kept the offense going with a two-RBI double and scored on Larson's second hit of the frame to make it 10-1.
Along with a sizzling offense, the Spiders were blazing on the base paths, collecting a season-high seven stolen bases. Whitley led the way with three stolen bases while Pacheco picked up two.
UR added a run in the fifth and seventh, both scored by Jaffe, on a wild pitch and passed ball respectively.
UR starter Esteban Rodriguez collected the victory, working around a single run in the second while scattering seven hits, three walks and striking out eight in five innings of work.
