BRONX, NY – The University of Richmond baseball team dropped the second game of the series to Fordham, 12-2, at Houlihan Park. Richmond moves to 12-18 on the year and 2-3 in Atlantic 10 Conference action.
Richmond quickly found themselves down 4-0 after the first inning. Fordham jumped on UR starter Brian Reinke, who allowed six runs, two earned on five hits, two walks, one hit batter in two in two-thirds of an inning.
Richmond got on the board in the third inning. Nick Lorenzo stared the frame with a double, then scored on a Fordham miscue. Aaron Whitley scored on DJ Pacheco's sacrifice fly to center to make it 6-2. Richmond was held to just six hits, with only one for extra bases.
Jackson Hinchliffe tossed three scoreless frames, but the Rams got to him in his fourth inning of work. Hinchliffe allowed six runs on five hits, a walk, a hit batter and three strikeouts.
Matthew Anderson allowed two hits before he got the final out of the seventh. Chase Topolski used just six pitches to retire the Rams in order in the eighth.
