Spider Baseball Homers Past Saint Louis to A-10 Semifinals

TYSONS, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team hit five home runs Wednesday to power past top seed Saint Louis for a 13-10 victory in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament at Capital One Park.
Richmond, 26-30 on the season, advances to the semifinals Friday and will play the two-seed VCU. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. on ESPN+.
The Spiders jumped out to a quick lead to start the game. Phil Bernstein pushed in Aaron Whitley, who led off the game with a base hit and a stolen base, with a base hit of his own. Jordan Jaffe made it 3-0 with a two-run home run to centerfield.
Jack Arcamone hit a three-run blast for his fifth of the season in the third inning to give UR a 6-0 lead.
Esteban Rodriguez retired seven-straight Saint Louis batters before allowing a walk in the third. Saint Louis got on the board in the fourth with two runs on three hits. Rodriguez finished his five-inning outing allowing just the two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk.
Jaffe tallied his second home run of the day and his team-leading tenth of the year with a two-run shot to left to put the Spiders up 8-2. Connor Larson got in on the home run hitting with a solo shot in center field for his fifth on the year in the sixth.
SLU got three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh off relievers Brian Reinke and Jackson Hinchliffe.
Jaffe collected his fifth RBI of the day with a base hit in the seventh, scoring Bernstein from second. Arcamone launched his second three-run home run in the seventh to put the Spiders up 13-5.
Cole Hentschel took the mound for seven outs, all strikeouts, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and a walk.
