Spider Baseball Blasts Six Home Runs in Loss at Towson

TOWSON, MD. – Spider Baseball launched six home runs Tuesday at John B. Schuerholz Park but fell 20-10 in seven innings to the Towson Tigers.
Richmond, now 21-27 on the season, will stay on the road for Atlantic 10 Conference action this weekend. UR will take on Rhode Island beginning with a 3 p.m. Friday contest on ESPN+.
Richmond jumped on the scoreboard first when Aaron Whitley scored on a ground out in the first. After a 30-minute rain delay, Towson evened it up in the bottom of the first.
The Tigers put up a six spot in the bottom of the second on seven hits and a walk off UR starter Jackson Kraemer. Kramer took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks in one and two-thirds of an inning.
Vincent Corso took over on the mound for the Spiders, scattering five runs on three hits, four walks and two strikeouts in two and a third of an inning.
Jaffe pushed in two more runs in the third to cut the Towson lead to 7-3, Whitley reached on a walk and Phil Bernstein tallied a base hit to right.
Zach Lass launched his second home run of the season I the fourth, a two-run shot to left field. Then in the top of the fifth Whitley, Bernstein and Jaffe hit back-to-back-to-back solo home runs to put the Spiders within two, 10-8.
Joey Wilga tallied his fourth home run in the sixth while Pacheco launched his seventh home run in the seventh inning.
Ethan Sannes tossed an inning in relief after Corso, allowing one unearned run on one hit and a walk. Matt Anderson scattered five runs on six hits in just a third of an inning. Jason Shockley tossed a full inning, collecting a strikeout without allowing a hit or run. Jake Young was on the mound when the game was called, allowing two runs on two walks and a run.
