Richmond Battles Saint Joseph’s to Scoreless Draw

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Richmond women's soccer team earned its sixth shutout of the season Thursday night, battling Saint Joseph's to a 0-0 draw at Sweeney Field. With the result, the Spiders moved to 3-7-7 overall and 0-5-4 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, while the Hawks stand at 5-10-2, 2-6-1.
How It Happened
Saint Joseph's applied early pressure, earning a corner inside the opening 20 seconds and putting three shots toward goal in the first six minutes. Veronica Rrapi was called into action in the 15th minute with a diving stop against the Hawks, then denied another attempt from SJU's Juliette Muro in the 31st minute to keep the match level. The Hawks finished the half with a 7-2 shot advantage.
Richmond found its rhythm after the break, creating sustained spells in the attacking third. The Spiders outshot the Hawks 8-3 in the second half and earned five corner kicks, including back-to-back opportunities in the 82nd and 89th minutes. Sophia Jurado forced a save in the 68th minute, while Emma Newman tested the keeper twice and saw two more attempts blocked in the final stretch. Rrapi made three saves overall to record her sixth shutout of the season.
