RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team jumped out fast and didn't slow down Tuesday, defeating Towson 14-3 in seven innings at Pitt Field.

Richmond, now 10-2 on the season, will host Boston College Wednesday at Pitt Field with a 1:30 PM first pitch on ESPN+.

The Spiders scored in five of six innings at the plate against seven Towson pitchers. Brady O'Brien paced the Spiders with a two-for-three day at the plate with, two walks, a double, a two-run home run and four RBI. Conor Larson went three-for-three with two doubles, as eight of nine Spiders in the starting line-up picked up at least one hit against the Tigers.

Richmond was patient at the plate in the first inning scoring four runs on three walks, two hit by pitches and a wild pitch. UR added four more in the second on five hits, including O'Brien's two-run home run to left, and a Tiger miscue on a play at the plate.

Towson got single runs in the first and second off UR starter Gerry Peacock. He allowed two runs on four hits, a walk and a hit batter, while striking out two. Chase Topolski took over and tossed four scoreless frames, allowing one hit and hitting one batter while striking out one. Kellan Heney tossed the seventh, allowing one run on three hits and striking out two.

In the third, Richmond again waited for their pitch, drawing three walks, a hit by pitch and a timely RBI double by Phil Bernstein to push the score to 11-2. Richmond added an insurance run in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
