RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond baseball team got back in the win column Tuesday with a 7-5 victory over the Maryland Terrapins at Pitt Field to close out a 12-game home stand.

Richmond, now 11-10 on the year and 0-3 in Atlantic 10 action, heads on the road this weekend to face Fordham in the Bronx, NY in conference play starting on Friday. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

After Maryland took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off two hits and two walks, UR starter Khristopher Morris got out of the inning with a strikeout. Morris worked a scoreless second inning, allowing one hit and a hit batter but stranded both Terps.

Richmond got on the board in the second inning when Aidan O'Keefe put down a safety squeeze bunt to score Sean Scanlon and Chris Schaller. Jackson Kraemer then hit his first home run of the season to deep left field to give Richmond a 3-1 lead.

Sam Young tossed a scoreless third inning, walking one, hitting one and striking out two. Christian Dray chipped in two scoreless innings, but the Terps tagged him for four runs in the sixth inning. Dray finished with a pitching line of two innings and a third, allowing four runs on three hits, a walk, a hit batter and three strikeouts. Dylan Siesky got the final two outs of the sixth, including one out via a strikeout.

The Spiders answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, all with two outs. Dylan Winebrenner doubled down the left field line bringing in two runs to tie the game. Michael Elko brought in two more runs with a sharp base hit to center field to give the Spiders a 7-5 lead.

Keane Hyer got the one batter he faced out in the seventh before Bijan Anvar finished retiring the side including a strikeout. Aaron Van Tuyle tossed a scoreless eighth, also retiring the side in order and picked up a strikeout.

Kellan Heney retired the one batter he faced to start the ninth. Justin Gay collected the save after working around a base hit with a fly out and a ground out to finish the game.
