Women's Tennis Tops Central Florida, 6-1

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team skipped back to its winning ways on Sunday afternoon with a win over the University of Central Florida Golden Knights (5-5) in Richmond, Va. Pamela Duran, Beatrice Grasu, and Robin Carter won at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles, respectively, to lead the Spiders (6-6) to their fifth win in the last six matches.
Richmond's Jessica Hubbard paired up at the No. 1 doubles spot to take down Central Florida's Pamela Fernandez and Elvira Serrot, while both the Beatrice Grasu/Carter duo and the Duran/Ashlee Vosters duo played solid tennis, earning wins at No. 2 and 3 to secure the doubles point for the Spiders.
The Spiders then continued their winning ways into singles' action where they swept the first three singles spots. Duran led the Spiders at the No. 1 spot with a win over Fernandez and Grasu came up with a hard fought 6-2, 7-6 victory over Serrot at the No. 2 position. Carter earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Belbacha at the No. 3 position, while Vosters and Xenia Schneider followed with wins over Hunter and McNicol at the No. 4 and 5 spots, respectively. Although Wolfgram fought hard at No. 6 and won her first set, she was unable to pull through and capture the next two, and the Spiders ended with a 5-1 advantage in singles action.
