Spider Cross Country Teams Travel To Notre Dame

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country teams travel to Notre Dame, Ind. this weekend to compete in the 59th Annual Notre Dame Invitational Friday.
FRIDAY'S MEET DETAILS
Friday's meet will take place at the Notre Dame Golf Course. The Women's gold division 5k is set to start at 2:00 p.m., while the men's 5-mile race is set to begin at 2:45 p.m. The women's race will include teams from 26 schools, and the men' will include teams from 24.
LAST TIME OUT
The Richmond cross country teams last competed on September 19th at the Adidas Longwood University Invitational. Both the men's and women's teams took first place overall.
Leading the women's team was freshman Shelby Cain who completed the race in a time of 19:22, placing fourth overall. One second later, senior Alli Mannon finished second for the spiders, and fifth overall, with a time of 19:23.
Emma Nowak (19:26), Allie Stapleton (19:40), Sasha Tory (19:41), Kelly Bailey (20:08), and Courtney Campbell (20:13) also scored for the Spiders.
Matt McKenna led the way for the Spider men placing second overall with a time of 16:06. Andrew Valenski finished second for the spiders, third overall, with a time of 16:07.
Freshman Alex Lucking finished third for Richmond in his first collegiate race with a time of 16:09. Rounding out the top five for the Spiders were Matthew Groff (16:10) and Paul Myer (16:14). The Spider men had a 1-5 split of eight seconds which they hope to carry over to their next meet at Notre Dame.
RICHMOND IN REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Richmond women's cross country team was given the nod in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings released on Monday, September 22nd. The women were ranked 14th in the Southeast Region.
