Richmond Falls On The Road At William & Mary

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team on the road to William & Mary on Wednesday, 16-11.
With the setback, Richmond falls to 4-10-1 on the season, while William & Mary improves to 11-5 on the year.
Sophomore 1B Doug Kraeger hit his third home run of the season to lead the Spider offense, while classmate Aaron Newman drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Sophomore OF Jansen Fraser hit a three-run homer as well for Richmond.
Trailing by eight runs in the top of the ninth, the Spiders mounted a rally. Sophomores Tanner Stanley and Matt Dacey each had RBI doubles in the frame to cut the lead to 16-8. Two batters later, Fraser cut further in to the lead, crushing a three-run homer over the fence in right field for his first collegiate home run.
The Spider rally would end there, however, and William & Mary would hold on for the 16-11 victory.
The University of Richmond Spiders will be back in action this weekend when the team begins a three-game series with Penn. First pitch on Friday at Pitt Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
