Doyle Ties School Record As Women's Lacrosse Wins
03/27/2015 | Women's Lacrosse
Senior Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) tied the Richmond women's lacrosse school record with 11 points as she poured in five goals and dished out six assists to propel the Spiders past visiting St. Bonaventure 19-9 to start Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday morning at home. The win snapped a three-game slide for the Spiders, putting their record at 4-6, 1-0 in the A-10. The Bonnies have dropped two in a row and fall to 1-8, with an 0-1 A-10 mark.
Doyle's six assists give her 92 for her career, one away from tying Mandy Friend (2006-09) as the all-time career leader in that category. Doyle has 20 assists this season for the Spiders.
Fellow senior Anna Jeszeck (Cortlandt Manor, New York) and junior Charlett Stevenson (Darien, Connecticut) added four goals each in the victory.
The Spiders went up 2-0 before SBU's first goal. The teams played to a 9-6 halftime score. Richmond reeled off five in a row, including the first three of the second half, and then finished the game by scoring the last six goals in the victory.
Richmond won 26 of the 29 draws in the game, with Zerr claiming nine and freshman Caroline Queally (Riverside, Connecticut) taking six as the draw specialist. The Spiders outshot the Bonnies 38-23 in the game, including 21-7 in the second half in the chilly and rainy conditions.
Richmond goalie Emily Boyce (Middletown, Maryland) earned her fourth win of the season (4-6) by registering five saves.
St. Bonaventure's Morgan Conroy made 13 saves in the loss (1-8).
Richmond remains at home Sunday to complete the league weekend by hosting Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m. The Spiders will be supporting the It's On Us campaign against domestic violence at this contest.
