Jacob Marcus (Malvern, Pa.) got the start on the hill. The Sophomore threw 5.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs and struck out three. Jarrad DeLarso (Marlton, N.J.) worked 1.1 innings in relief, scattering three hits to go with a strikeout. Sammy Senders (Potomac, Md.) finished the final 2.0 innings picking up a strikeout.

West Virginia jumped out to an early, plating four runs. Three-straight ground ball hits started the contest before Richmond recorded an out. Kevin Brophy brought in the second run of the inning with a double to left center before Paul McIntosh hit a two-run homer to put the Mountaineers up 4-0.
Richmond answered with a run of its own as the top three hitters of Schulefand, Mathes and Toso singled to bring in the Spider run and cut the lead to 4-1.
After a scoreless second inning, the Mountaineers went on to score five runs over the next two frames to take a commanding 9-1 before tacking on a pair of runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
The Spiders return to the diamond Tuesday as they head to Charlottesville for a matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers at 3 p.m.
