Spider Hockey Announces 2021 Spring Atlantic 10 Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey program has released their six-game 2021 spring Atlantic 10 pod schedule, head coach Jamie Montgomery announced Thursday. The Spiders will face each VCU, Davidson and Saint Louis in a home-and-home series.
The Spiders open the season on the road at VCU (March 13) and Davidson (March 20). Richmond will host Saint Louis (March 26) and VCU (April 3) under the lights at Crenshaw Field.
UR will wrap-up the short, league-only season on the road at Saint Louis (April 10) before hosting Davidson (April 17) at Crenshaw Field.
A four-team 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Championship will be played on the campus of the highest seed, April 23-24, with the winner advancing to the NCAA tournament.
The Spiders finished the fall 2019 season 11-10 and 6-2 in the A-10. Richmond's season ended in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships finals in a 1-0 loss to No. 13 Saint Joseph's at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond, selected to finish second in the 2021 spring preseason A-10 coaches' poll, returns 2019 Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team honorees junior defender Steffie Bongers and sophomore defender Tess Keppel, as well as senior goalkeeper Frankie-Lynne Conklin in the cage. Bongers tallied 13 points on six goals, including two game-winners, and one assist as Keppel tallied one goal. Conklin collected 77 saves for an average a .658 save percentage.
