Pacheco Blasts Three-Run Home Run in Win Over GW

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team bounced back Saturday, collecting an 11-5 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over George Washington at Pitt Field, powered by a five-run fourth inning.
Richmond moves to 18-17 on the year and 3-8 in the A-10, while GW falls to 18-20 on the season and 6-5 in league play. The final game of the series is set for a noon first pitch at Pitt Field and on ESPN+ Sunday.
GW took a quick 2-0 lead in the first, but Richmond came back to tie it in the second. Jason Neff (West Palm Beach, Fla.) laced a double to left to get the Spiders going. Chase Conklin (Mullica Hill, N.J.) pushed Jason Neff to third with a bunt single. D.J. Pacheco (Danvers, Mass.) picked up his first of a career-high five RBI after scoring Jason Neff with a double to center. Conklin came home on a Drew Beno (Loxahatchee, Fla.) ground out to tie the game.
The Colonials tallied a single run off of Spiders starter Jeremy Neff (West Palm Beach, Fla.) in the fourth to retake the lead, 3-2. Jeremy Neff (2-4) collected the win after allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits, two walks and three strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
After base hits from Jake Elbeery (North Andover, Mass.) and Conlkin in the fourth, Pacheco crushed a 1-1 pitch down the left field line for a three-run home run, his second home run of the year. Christian Beal (Flossmoor, Ill.) and Alden Mathes (Broomall, Pa.) tallied back-to-back two-out singles and advanced a base each on a GW wild pitch before Jared Sprague-Lott (Philadelphia, Pa.) singled down the left field line to give Richmond a 7-3 lead.
Johnny Hipsman (Chester, N.Y.) led off the fifth with a single and advanced to second after Elbeery drew a walk to chase GW's starter from the game. Jason Neff tallied his second hit the day with a bunt single to load the bases. Conklin picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to deep right field for the Spiders first run of the frame. Pacheco scored Elbeery with a base hit to collect a season-high fifth RBI before Beno tallied his second RBI of the day with a sacrifice bunt.
Eli Larson (Mill Valley, Calif.) took over for Richmond on the mound, picking up a strike out to end the sixth. Larson allowed one run on four hits and struck out four in 3.1 innings of work to pick up his first save of the season.
