Spiders Mash Three Homers in Win Over Davidson

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Baseball captured the final Atlantic 10 Conference series of the season with a 7-3 victory over the Davidson Wildcats Friday afternoon at Pitt Field.
Richmond (25-26, 12-9 A-10) goes for the sweep Saturday over Davidson (29-21, 15-7) at Pitt Field with a 1 p.m. contest on ESPN+. Senior Day festivities will start at 12:30 p.m. to honor 13 seniors and graduate student athletes.
Davidson got on the board in the first, but Richmond roared back in the second inning. After Jason Neff doubled and Zach Lass drew a walk, Mikey Kluska hit a massive three-run home run to take a 3-1 lead.
The Spiders tacked on two more runs in the third. Alden Mathes slid under the tag at home on Jake Elbeery's sacrifice fly in short right field. Then Christian Beal scored on Neff's second double of the game.
Kluska launched his second home run of the game to lead off the fourth inning, collecting his fifth of the season to give the Spiders a 6-2 lead.
The Wildcats got a third run in the seventh, but again the Spiders answered with a run of their own in the bottom of frame. This time, Neff launched his sixth home run of the season to cap a 4-for-4 day at the plate.
Richmond starter Jeremy Neff tossed two innings, allowing one run on three hits and struck out four. Esteban Rodriguez collected his fourth win of the season, scattering one unearned run on three hits in four innings of work with three strikeouts. Harrison Clifton allowed one run on two hits and two walks over two innings of work with a strikeout. Dane Armson faced the minimum in the ninth, striking out two.
