Spiders Drop A-10 Tournament Opener to Saint Louis

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Baseball fell in the opening game of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Tuesday, 6-3, to Saint Louis at The Diamond.

Saint Louis took a quick lead off Richmond starter Jeremy Neff, scoring three runs in the first inning. Neff took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits, three walks and two hit batter with two strikeouts in three and two-thirds of an inning on the mound.
The Spiders got on the board in the fourth inning, making it 3-1. Jordan Jaffe led off with a walk, then advanced on a fielder's choice and a ground out before scoring on a wild pitch.
Jaffe tallied Richmond's second run of the game in the sixth inning, scoring on Christian Beal's sharp base hit to left, to make it 6-2.
Jaffe crossed the plate a third time for UR in the eighth, scoring on a close play on a ground out from Beal.
Richmond reliever Brenden Argomaniz allowed two runs in the fifth on three hits, a walk and two hit batters with one strikeout in two and two-third of an inning. Dane Armson wrapped up the game, walking two and striking out one in one and two-thirds of an inning.
