Wilga Gets Walk-Off Hit for Spider Baseball Series Sweep

Richmond, now 3-5 on the season, return to action Friday, kicking off the Central Virginia Challenge against Boston College at 1:30 p.m. UR will take on Sacred Heart Saturday and Central Connecticut State Sunday, with both games starting at noon.
Mount St. Mary's got to Richmond starter Vincent Corso in the second inning, tallying four runs on two hits with just one out in the inning. Esteban Rodriguez took over and got the final two outs.
Phillip Bernstein blasted a three-run home run in the fifth to right field, scoring DJ Pacheco and Aidan O'Keefe for his first home run of the season and put the Spiders within one, 4-3.
Rodriguez posted four scoreless frames, tallying nine strikeouts before he allowed three runs in the seventh. He finished the day allowing three hits and three walks over five and a third of an inning of work.
Bernstein picked up his fourth RBI of the game in the seventh, making it 7-4, with a double down the left field line to score Aaron Whitley from first base, after he drew a two-out walk.
Zach Lass made it 7-5 in the eighth with a solo shot off the scoreboard in left center.
Davis Wallon replaced Rodriguez, getting the strikeout to end the seventh before tossing a scoreless eighth. Wallon allowed a walk and picked up a second strikeout in the eighth. Cole Hentschel got the ninth, allowing one run to score on one hit with a strikeout.
After three straight walks, in the bottom of the ninth, Jake Elbeery pushed in the first run with a ground out. Lass followed with a base hit through the infield before Wilga tallied the two-run game winning hit.
