Spider Baseball Split Saturday A-10 Doubleheader at Davidson

Richmond, now 17-23 on the year and 7-5 in league games, returns to Pitt Field for midweek action to host Norfolk State Tuesday. First pitch is set for 2:30 on ESPN-Plus.
In game one, Jordan Jaffe put the Spiders on the board with a two-run home run, his sixth of the year, to right center on the first pitch he saw. He scored DJ Pacheco who drew a walk one at-bat prior.
UR tallied a single run in the second and third to push their lead out to 4-1. Jake Topolski scored on Aidan O'Keefe's single up the middle in the second. Jaffe doubled in Phil Bernstein in the third.
Richmond added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth. With the bases loaded, Jake Topolski forced in a run when he was hit by a pitch. RJ Rickabaugh tallied a RBI single to left before O'Keefe scored Connor Larson on a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
Bernstein put the game away with a two-run home run to right, 9-4.
UR starter Kyle Roche tossed four and a third of an inning, allowing four runs on 10 hits, struck out seven and one hit batter. Jackson Hinchliffe collected his first collegiate victory, allowing one hit, one walk and struck out one over two and a third of an inning. Dane Armson and Cole Hentschel tossed scoreless eighth and ninth innings. Armson had one strike out while Hentschel tallied two strikeouts and a walk.
In game two, Esteban Rodriguez tossed three scoreless innings before Davidson got on the board in the fourth. Rodriguez took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits, one walk and collected nine strikeouts over five innings of work.
Chase Topolski allowed Davidson's other run in the sixth on two hits in a third of an inning of work. Armson went one and a third of an inning, striking out one, to hold the Wildcats scoreless. Brian Reinke got the final out in the seventh and first out in the eighth. Logan Ymker got the final two outs, both by strikeouts of the eighth.
Richmond got on the board in the seventh. After Joey Wilga drew a leadoff walk, Jake Topolski hit a two-run home run over the left field wall for his sixth of the year to make it 4-2. O'Keefe doubled, took second on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on Bernstein's sacrifice fly to get within one run.
UR worked the bases loaded in the top of the ninth. Aaron Whitley and Jaffe both had base hits, then advanced on a ground out to third and second respectively. Pacheco was intentionaly walked to load the bases. Rickabaugh grounded into a four-six-three double play to end the game.
