UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Who doesn't love a series sweep? The Spider Baseball team completed the sweep of Towson on Sunday with a 10-5 victory.

Richmond (5-2) didn't hesitate to get things started on Sunday afternoon. In his first at-bat, Vinny Capra blasted a solo home run over the left field wall. Daniel Brumbaugh followed with a double to right and ended up scoring on a passed ball to give Richmond a 2-0 lead.

Towson answered with a solo shot from Bo Plagge off the batter's eye in the second, cutting the Spider lead to one. Richmond got a run back in the bottom half of inning though. A pair of singles and back-to-back walks allowed Brandon Johnson to cross the dish and give the Spiders a 3-1 lead.

A double from Towson's Richie Palacios in the third sent a Tiger home and cut the Spiders' lead to one again. In the fourth, Charlie Watters sent the ball over the wall in left to give Towson its first lead of the game, 4-3.

Kyle Adams smashed a two-run shot down the right field line to put the Spiders back in control of the scoreboard. Johnson capped off the scoring in the inning with an RBI groundout to bring in Tim Miller and make it a 6-4 ball game.

Behind a D.J. Lee triple, the Spiders tacked on two runs in the seventh to extend Richmond's lead, 8-4. Towson was able to scratch across one in the top of the eighth to get within three, but the Spiders would continue with their offensive attack in the bottom half of the inning scoring two more runs to make it 10-5 and secure the series sweep.

The Spiders will return to action on Wednesday, February 28 as they entertain James Madison. First pitch for the midweek tilt is slated for 2:30 p.m.
